Inconel Alloy 625 valves

Imperial Valve has supplied injection and sampling ‘Double Block & Bleed valves’ to Van Leeuwen Pipe & Tube Malaysia, part of Van Leeuwen Pipe and Tube Group. It concerned eight sampling valves and three chemical injection valves. On demand of the enduser – Bumi Armada Berhad from Malasia – the valves were produced from the exotic material Inconel Alloy 625 and were provided with a special coating.

Tailormade with short delivery

Imperial Valve was one of the many prospective vendors. Wim de Ridder – Sales Manager Imperial Valve – says that three factors played a role in the choice of Van Leeuwen for Imperial Valve. “First the material Inconel Alloy 625 was strictly demanded. We suppose that many Azian supplyers have a problem with that, but for us it’s no problem at all. The second we offered a very attractive price. Last but not least: we could guarantee that we met their very strict deleverytime – I suppose this was the deciding factor. On november 23rd 2015 the order was confirmed, on february 24th 2016 we delivered. This is a relatively short term for these kind of tailormade products.”

Quill/probe conforms client specification

The valves were installed on the FPSO Madura, a brandnew Floating Production Storage and Offloading ship. At this moment the construction is in full tempo, in Singapore. Wim de Ridder says that Imperial can handle custom design: “We produced the blueprints in our factory in Denmark. It was crucial that the quill/probe would be to the correct dimensions.” After client approval of the drawings, production began immediately, as the machining of Inconel Alloy 625 was very time consuming.

Final inspection

Shortly before the shipment to Singapore, the valves were witnessed in Denmark (in the Imperial Valve factory) by an inspector of Intertek Inspection Services Scandinavia. This was a request of the enduser. Wim de Ridder was present: “I explained for example how some areas of the valves were not coated, to avoid internal damage from the coating process. By the way, the inspection was positive: all eleven valves were presure tested and approved.”

Van Leeuwen our agent in Malaysia

After delivery, Dave Pascoe – Sales Director Imperial Valve – travelled to Kuala Lumpur to discuss with Van Leeuwen about future joint ventures. The result is that Van Leeuwen Pipe & Tube Malaysia is now the agent for Imperial Valve, for Malaysia and Singapore. Our valves are a major contribution to the delivery programm of Van Leeuwen Tube Malaysia.
